About us
About us
Founded on July 10, 1872, the Swiss Benevolent Club of Cincinnati has long served as a gathering place and community for Swiss-born residents, Swiss descendants, and all who share an interest in the rich culture, traditions, and values of Switzerland. What began as a supportive, benevolent society has evolved into a vibrant organization dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and renewing Swiss heritage in Greater Cincinnati.
Our Mission
Our mission is to honor and continue the customs, culture, and spirit of Switzerland, from language, food, music, and events, to the bonds of friendship and mutual aid that have long marked Swiss communities. We strive to foster a welcoming environment for members of all generations, whether newly arrived or long-established, so that Swiss traditions remain alive, relevant, and accessible to all.
What We Do
Host regular events throughout the year that showcase Swiss music, food, and events.
Provide community and support among Swiss-Americans and others interested in Swiss culture.
Encourage younger generations to learn Swiss history, language, and traditions through activities and mentorship.
Offer scholarships, benevolence, and outreach programs to assist members and strengthen our community.
Maintain links with Swiss organizations locally and abroad, preserving the connections that keep our traditions rooted and vibrant.
Our Community
We are made up of dedicated volunteers, longtime members, newcomers, and anyone with a passion for Switzerland. Our strength rests on a shared desire: to give thanks to our origins, to pass along our customs, and to build fellowship through shared celebrations. Whether you’re Swiss by birth, Swiss by marriage, or simply Swiss at heart, you’ll be welcome here.
Why We Matter
In a world that moves fast, traditions can fade. The Swiss Benevolent Association exists to bridge the past to the present to preserve the flavors, stories, crafts, languages, and values that define Swiss identity. By keeping these alive, we enrich not only our own community but the wider cultural landscape of Cincinnati, creating understanding and connection.
